1. The techniques that I tried to use were value, texture, and space. I think I started to see space really well at the end but struggled with lines, value, and texture. 2. Picasso incorporates a lot of value into his self-portrait which I try to do. I gained meaning from his artwork by seeing how different artists use a variety of detail in their drawings.I chose him because his self- portrait is simpler with less detail but one can still see what the artist is trying to portray. 3. My piece started off very basic. I had the normal shape of the lips and what I thought it looked like. I had outlined them dark and then started to notice the only solid line was the line where my lips parted. I had to use value to show the shadows that were on my face to show the outline of the lips. I used composition by choosing where to place the highlight shown on my face. 4. If I had the chance I would take more time and re-do my eyes. I think they are proportioned wrong and want to change that. 5. This piece connects to my other art because I used the same medium of charcoal.
1. The techniques that I tried to use were texture, lines and using contrast. I think I started to show texture well but struggled with using value and lines. 2. Leonid Afremov uses short brush strokes to show texture and detail. I took the idea of mountains from his piece "Icy Mountain". He used a palette knife to create these strokes. I gained meaning from his work because he painted something from nature which is my theme. 3. I had a hard time starting this piece in the beginning because I wasn't sure where I wanted to go with it. I started off with a much larger piece of paper and wanted to put a lake on the bottom. However, when I painted it I made the lake too dark to add a reflection and cut the lake off. From there I liked the idea of doing a thinner piece, I had white space so I added the silhouettes of trees. I used composition by deciding where to place the mountains and trees in relation to each other. 4. If I could do something over I would spend more time on the mountains. I would like to add more detail instead of the basic outline and colors of it. 5. This piece is similar to my other pieces because it is a 2D piece of art.
1. The techniques I tried to use were lines, direction, space, and value. I think I used lines and direction really well in showing the light coming down from the sky and the direction of the trees. I think I struggled with value and space. 2. Arlene Steinberg uses colored pencils for very detailed drawings. She usually just draws still lives but I drew inspiration from her because of the detail she likes to include in her drawings. 3. This piece was hard for me to start because in the beginning I wanted to use paint but thought I could add more detail with colored pencils. I found it hard to make the trees seem realistic and it didn't turn out quite the way I hoped. 4. If I had the chance I would re-do the path to the sky. I don't think it comes off as I would like it to and I want to make it more detailed. 5. This piece links to my other pieces because it connects to my theme of nature.
1. The techniques I tried to use were composition, lines, contrast, and texture. I think I showed texture and contrast well through the trees and leaves. However, I struggled with the line and the composition of the leaves with the trees. 2. I based this painting off of Leonid Afremov. He uses short brush strokes and I like this technique because I think it shows detail without being super realistic. He paints nature which connects to my theme. He usually uses a palette knife which is where we vary in our techniques. 3. In the beginning, I looked at different fall paintings and decided to paint aspen trees. I first started off without using white paint and realized my mistake. I chose to make the bottom leaves and ground green and then blend it with the fall leaves with yellow. I used composition to decide where to place my trees and branches. 4. If I could do something over I would fix the leaves so they weren't as blended and looked more pronounced. I would maybe use more of my space and show light coming through the trees. 5. This connects to my other pieces because of my theme nature and my technique of short brush strokes.
1. The techniques I used were value, contrast, lines, and texture. I think I struggled with lines because it was hard for me to make clear and sharp lines with the tree trunks. I think a technique I mastered was value and texture with the light on the mountains and trees. Another technique that I think I mastered was contrast by using black and white. 2. An artist I drew inspiration from was Leonid Afremov. He uses oil paints as well as short brush strokes in order to add texture. Usually, his paintings involve a common theme of nature similar to my own artwork. 3. When I first began this piece I started off in my sketchbook working on value for different types of trees. I wanted to keep it more simple and decided on only using black and grey paint. I also tried to make the trees in the foreground larger due to perspective. 4. If I were to do something over I would add more trees and more detail to the piece. I would also try and make the lines more pronounced. 5. This piece connects to my other pieces through my theme of nature and the use of oil paint.
1. The techniques I used in this piece were lines, texture, value, and contrast. I struggled with texture and contrast. I tried to blend in the colors while maintaining contrast with the orange and the purple flowers, however, it did not work as well as I thought it would. I think I mastered value. I made the bottom of the flowers darker because they would not be receiving as much light. 2. An artist I drew inspiration from was Marion Rose. She painted tulips as well but used orange rather than purple. She blended the background while also maintaining contrast. 3. When I first began this piece I started off by sketching what I wanted to paint onto the paper. This provided me with a good base and lines to follow. As I continued I would add paint and color to each section and finished by trying to blend all the colors together. 4. If I were to do something over I would blend the background more so the composition is more consistent with the rest of the painting. I would also try and make the lines sharper. 5. This piece is connected to my others through the common theme of nature. However, this is slightly different than the others because it is closer up.
1. The techniques I used in this project was contrast and trying to highlight the different colors. I struggled with value and being able to demonstrate this in the photo. I think a technique I mastered would be the contrast of the right side of the sky with the mountains. 2. An artist I drew inspiration from was Alberto Seveso. He works with photoshop and usually likes to use a lot of color. One of his main points is contrasting colors with warm colors opposed to cool colors. 3. I have never used photoshop before so when first beginning I had to watch multiple videos and go on websites to discover all of the commands. It started off slow but was a lot easier when I continued it. A lot of the project was just trying new things. 4. If I were to do something over I would add more to it and make it multiple photos all tinted in a different way. I think this would create an interesting effect. 5. This piece is connected through my other pieces through the common theme of nature. However, it is different through the medium I used.
1. The techniques I used were contrast, balance and space. I struggled with balance and space because I was not sure how to make it seem as if the trees were part of the building. I think I mastered contrast through the use of colors which highlight the green but also the building. 2. I drew inspiration from the artist Alberto Seveso. He does a lot of photoshop with people but the techniques he uses are similar to what I did with the blending of objects. 3. When first starting this project it was difficult because photoshop was a new medium to me and I did not have any experience with it. However, as I continued to progress I learned new techniques. 4. If I were to do something over I would try and blend the building and the trees more in order to create a more natural effect. 5. This piece is connected to my others because of the similar theme of nature.
